Reiki is a Japanese healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation. Reiki simply translates as “Life Force Energy,” which is the natural source of energy that flows through us all. When our energy is low or “stuck,” whether through stress, illness, injury, or emotional dissatisfaction, we are likely to become more sick or feel more stressed, which can then manifest into actual physical ailments in the body. If our "Life Force Energy" is high, we feel happy and healthy, because everything is “flowing” smoothly.
The human body is so incredibly intelligent and fascinating. It possesses the ability to heal itself if we just get out of the way. One could argue that stress (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) is the precursor of all “dis-ease” in the body. Stress is exacerbated by the conditioning of modern day society, and inhibits our ability to relax. It is when we are relaxed that the body can best do its job - to keep all of our systems running smoothly and make repairs and heal where needed. Reiki is an excellent complement to your current health and wellness regimens or treatments, but should not be considered a replacement for current medical care. Just like you might get massages for your physical body to work out knots (stuck energy) and soreness. Reiki restores balance to your energetic body, which in turn has positive healing effects on your physical body.
I am a certified Reiki Master in the Usui System of Reiki Healing lineage, having completed all three levels of training. Using this gentle, hands-on or off energy technique, where you remain clothed for treatment, I will work to realign your energetic body and get everything flowing seamlessly again. My Reiki Journey
My reiki teacher said that you don't choose reiki, reiki chooses you. I had no prior experience with reiki, only knowing that it was a form of energetic healing. I also had no initial interest in learning more about it, let alone performing it, but then realized I was disappointed when I couldn't attend a training session nearby. I immediately signed up for the next course and my life has never been the same since.
I had an assumption that people that did healing work were “special” and few and far between, possessing gifts that they were born with to do the work that they did. I did not believe myself to be “special” and therefore didn’t believe I could help people in this way. What I have learned along the way is that we all possess the ability to heal - ourselves and the world around us. But we have to choose it. Choose to uncover layers of insecurity, hurt, trauma, illness, patterns of behavior, sometimes from many years ago or even lifetimes ago. Choosing to walk intentionally into my wounds has been some of the hardest most terrifying work I have done, but also the most liberating.
I make no claims to having this crazy ride we call life figured out. My life is not perfect, but I am at peace - happy, healthy, more grounded, and content. And Reiki has been an incredible facilitator, a healing gift, and I would like to share it with you.
